What is Soul
Cartography?
“What can we gain by sailing to the moon if we are not able to cross the abyss that separates us from ourselves? This is the most important of all voyages of discovery, and without it all the rest are not only useless but disastrous.”
| Thomas Merton, The Wisdom of the Desert |
Astrology as the Ground
Astrology is one of the oldest wisdom systems humans have used to read the pattern underneath a life.
Your astrological birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment you arrived — and it maps the energies you came in carrying. Not who you should be. Who you already are. Those energies are archetypes — universal patterns every human recognizes.
For instance, you know the word “Mother” in your bones, whatever your culture, because to be alive is to have one. And yet there are billions of ways that single energy can express. Your chart holds a whole constellation of archetypes — they express as your instincts, your drives, the themes that keep returning whether you invite them or not.
You Are Already Living Your Chart
You have been living your chart your whole life — most likely without knowing.
Not reading it. Living it. Your chart is not a personality quiz; it is a song — and not a simple one. Every part of you plays in it: a whole orchestra sounding at once, the song you came here to sing. Your life song started playing the moment of your first breath — and maybe even before. Your body and voice carry the song faithfully for decades before the mind catches up. And please, hear this — you can’t do it wrong. There is no wrong way to sing your song. It is the music of a soul’s evolutionary journey in this life.
A Chart
Lived
The music shows up as patterns in your life — and they’re hard to see, because you’re standing inside the music, inside your own life, it is on top of you. But the music is always in motion, each pattern playing out along its own arc. The placement that began as a restriction can become the exact shape of your gift and your calling.
The same intensity that overwhelmed you as a child can become, with maturation, the depth and drive that makes you irreplaceable and precious. And the thing you could never quite make happen — the one you kept failing at while it seemed to come so easily to everyone else — may turn out to have never been yours to live. You weren’t failing. You were staying true to a path you couldn’t yet see.
A chart doesn’t describe a fixed self. It scores a becoming. The only real question is which octave you’re singing in — high, low, or somewhere between — and whether you can hear what you’re singing.
Are you living your patterns consciously or unconsciously?
An unheard pattern plays as fate. The moment you can hear it — it becomes a choice.
Experience Is Not Truth
Your chart holds many perspectives, and from where you’re standing, some of them look true.
But that trueness shifts as the point of view shifts. That is experience, not Truth. Experience is sometimes true; Truth is always True.
In Soul Cartography, we begin to identify and clear away the muck that is stuck to you, and your music starts to ring closer to the Truth of you. That muck is conditioning, and conditioning might appear true — everything family and the world taught you about how you are “supposed” to be, long before anyone thought to ask who you already were.
Where Soul Cartography goes further
An astrologer is trained to read your chart and translate it back to you — to show you your patterns, your gifts, the themes running underneath your life. That reflection is real, and it can be clarifying. But it hands you a hundred true things to sift through while you’re still standing inside the music. Soul Cartography gives you what a reading can’t: a Guide who sees the pattern from outside it, and a process of integration that takes the chart off the page and into the choices you actually make.
I read your chart to see you clearly — your gifts, your tensions, the deeper patterns at play. But a reading that hands you everything hands you nothing. A full chart reading delivers a thousand true things, and most of them you cannot use today. My work is curation: finding the one or two pointers that are your way out right now, and making them impossible to miss. And it starts with one question:
-
And I don’t hand you the map and send you on your way. Life itself does the transforming — the losses, the thresholds, the moments that stop you where you stand are the surgery. My role is the one I have held at the edge of consciousness: to hold the threshold and hold the light while you cross. To name what is already happening to you, so you can make a choice — to stop fixing and start learning. To surrender to what is true instead of fighting to keep what is familiar — and not mistake the passage for a punishment. But only you can take the step. A Guide holds the light; you choose when to cross.
I will never bypass your experience to get to the pattern underneath it. What happened to you is real — and that hunch you carry, the one you can’t quite prove, probably has truth in it too. Through the chart we can look at the layers underneath. But nothing here is a magical switch. The shrapnel of life — outdated beliefs, emotional trauma, your history and conditioning all stuck in the body — they come off in layers. But you have to be willing to look under the rock to release them.
There is one more thing a Guide gives that a chart read cannot: proof it can be done. A Guide understands the terrain — not because she studied it, but because she has crossed it multiple times. That is both a credential and the alchemical ingredient.
“We're all just walking each other home.”
— Ram Dass
Why not just get a reading and a book?
It’s a fair question — and I’m the last person who’ll dismiss it, because I tried exactly that.
After my first reading, I had to know whether it was real. So I did what the scientist in me always does: I went looking for where it would break. I spent ten thousand dollars on the astrology training alone — I’m a Capricorn rising; I don’t do anything by halves — and that was only the beginning. I learned several other systems too and held them against each other to see where they’d contradict. They didn’t. Every one pointed the same way. And the further I go, the more opens — and it’s still opening. Counting the numerous mentors, the energy work, and the years of slowly taking myself apart, it is many times that (This number continues to grow). And even with enormous forces at my back moving me forward in this direction (major life altering transits), dissolving my defenses, it took me five years to hear the octaves clearly. Without all of that at my back, it could easily have been ten or more, and I might still not be this clear.
A reading and a book can start you — they started me. What they can’t do is spare you the years.
THE PATTERN YOU'RE LIVING FROM INSIDE YOUR OWN LIFE TAKES SOMEONE STANDING OUTSIDE IT TO SEE.
And insight fades when you're left alone with it — a reading is a single afternoon, a book sits on the shelf; neither walks beside you as your life unfolds. A reading opens something. Staying in it together is what keeps it alive and workable.
And there is one thing no book and no single reading can give you: a witness. Someone who has crossed this ground before, watching you move through it — telling you, when you feel like you're coming apart, that you are not losing your mind. That what you're feeling is exactly the work, and you are actually moving, even when it feels like you're falling backwards.
I know what that witness is worth because I have needed one — more than once, my mentors kept me steady and grounded. You can cross this alone. But it is much longer, harder, and lonelier than necessary. A Guide with her own guides is one walking the road she's asking you to walk.
Less Like Performance, more like home
When you understand your own blueprint, you are more equipped to move from unconsciously repeating old patterns to consciously choosing how you sing your song and show up.
That is the difference between knowing your chart and living it — between information and transformation. The result is a life that feels less like performance and more like home — more authentic, more aware, more aligned with what your soul actually came here to do.
